OUR PROGRAMS

What we are doing? Current projects of Kumnit Kumar Organization (KKO)

KKO programs aim to ensure that children living on the margins of Cambodian society, whether in remote areas, suburban communities, or provisional settlements, can enjoy their fundamental right. Therefore, children facing challenges in accessing education, health care, and a safe environment due to various reasons such as irregular attendance, school dropout, family economic constraints, or geographical limitations, are prioritized as beneficiaries and partners of KKO. The organization works closely with children and parents to engage local key stakeholders in developing tailored actions to address actual needs. These may include protection and welfare development through community preschool learning, support classes for primary school-level education, follow-up counseling, basic health education, healthcare support, child protection and welfare initiatives involving parent volunteer groups, and collaboration with local authorities, including the Commune Committee for Women and Children, for child rights education, prevention, and protection against child rights violations.

CHILD FRIENDLY SPACE IN BRICK FACTORY (Kandal Province)

The Situation of Children and Families Living Inside Brick Factories

Cambodia is currently experiencing a construction boom, leading to high demand for bricks and construction materials. The workforce in this industry predominantly consists of extremely poor, indebted migrant workers, who often live with their entire families on factory grounds. Hundreds of families are trapped in extreme poverty, enduring harsh living conditions with little hope for their children to aspire to a better future. Children grow up in unsafe environments with limited access to basic services such as healthcare, water, sanitation, and education.

Kumnit Kumar Organization aims to empower these families by improving their living conditions, restoring their dignity, and ensuring essential health and education services reach their children. Through mobile kindergartens and health services, KKO provides vital support. Emergency assistance helps improve their living conditions, while the development of child-friendly spaces ensures that children can thrive and grow in safer environments

In the Prek Anhchanh commune of Kandal province, Kumnit Kumar Organization collaborates with local authorities, parents, and education stakeholders to ensure that all children have access to school and can enjoy their fundamental rights. Kumnit Kumar works alongside local committees, empowering them to strengthen their capacity to provide health and education services to children.

MOBILE CLINIC

(Mondulkiri Province)

In Mondulkiri province, remote communities of indigenous populations face challenges in accessing basic maternal and child health services. Our mobile clinic addresses health issues affecting children through outreach services, collaborating closely with medical staff from the provincial health department.

Special attention is also dedicated to monitoring the nutritional status of children, with follow-up and referrals made to health centers for children identified with malnutrition issues.

Furthermore, health education is strengthened through the empowerment of Village Health Support Groups. These health volunteers from the community serve as the primary link to the health system, assisting in the promotion of good health practices and disseminating essential health information.
